Nacera Setterahmane
Nacera "Nancy" Setterahmane's experience in international business, law, and government provides the foundation for her representation of U.S. and foreign enterprises seeking to establish a business presence in North Africa and the Middle East. Moreover, with her proficency in Arabic, French, and English, Ms. Setterahmane serves as a professional translator to multinational companies in cross-border transactions.
As educational background, in 1985, Ms. Setterahmane earned a Bachelor of Law ( LL.B.) degree from the Faculté de droit de Ben Aknoun in Algeria. In 1988 she earned the prestigious Magistère en Droit Privé from the Université d'Alger (University of Algiers) - Centre Institut de Droit et des Sciences Politiques et Administratives (Center For Law & Political Science).
In 1985 upon graduation from law school, Ms. Setterahmane commenced employment with the Ministère de la Santé Publique (Health Ministry) in Algeria. As Administrator of Human Ressources, it was her responsibility to oversee all administrative services dealing with corporations within Algeria. This included negotiating terms and amendments to regulations that are applied to corporate employees. Ms Setterahmane also managed the department in charge of maintaining Ministry files for domestic and foreign organizations operating within Algeria's borders. In 1989, Ms. Setterahamne joined one of the most prestigious law firms in Algeria. As a trial lawyer at the firm, she quickly gained valuable experience in business ligitation and employment law.
After seven years at the firm, Ms. Setterahmane emigrated to Damascas, Syria, accepting a position as a trial lawyer with a multinational Société Anonyme à Responsabilité Limitée (SARL). She also served in a diplomatic position with the French Embassy in Damascas; working with the Centre International de Recherche Scientifique (CIRS), the French center for International scientific research. During this time, Ms. Setterahmane also held the position as a Professor of French at the Centre El Cham and Centre El Tijarah, as well as a French-Arabic translator for a French television station broadcasting from Syria. In 2003, Ms. Setterahmane returned to Algeria to accept a position with a Algerian international law firm. She was employed by the firm as a trial lawyer until immigrating to the United States in 2006.
In 2006, Ms. Setterhmane immigrated to the United States with her family. In 2007, she formed a business venture with the Wenger law firm to provide of-counsel legal services to the firm's clients and also provides Arabic and French translation services to the firm. With U.S. merchandise exports to the Arab countries surpassing $26 billion in 2005, a 38 percent increase over the 2004 level, Ms. Setterahmane's vast legal and business experience in this region of the world is a major asset to the Wenger law firm.
