Emigration is often mandatory in a contract of employment for religious missionaries, and employees of transnational corporations, international non-governmental organisations and the diplomatic service can expect to work 'overseas'. They are often referred to as "expatriates." Expatriates often experience difficulties in relocating, not just from immigration law. Immigrants when leaving their country also leave everything familiar: their family, friends, support network, and culture. They also need to liquidate their assets often at a large cost, and incur the expense of moving. When they arrive in the United States, it is often with many uncertainties including where to live, how to enroll their children in school, new laws, new cultural norms, and language or accent issues. With the surge in international business and consequently the rise in U.S. immigration, more families are experiencing these barriers.
How We Serve Our Clients
Our employee and corporate relocation practice is a natural and neccessary component of our corporate and U.S. immigration practice. Unlike many other law firms with exclusive immigration practices, our firm assists foreign investors in establishing a business presence in the United States as well as providing immigration legal counsel. Thus, we are often called upon to assist clients in relocating. To this end, we have established an exhaustive relocation service, which includes the personal attention of professionals in their respective fields, most of whom are immigrants themselves that understand the stress involved in relocating to the United States.
