Ms. Baebler, a native of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, received a Bachelor's degree in International Business (1992) from Univerzita Karlova (King Charles University) in Prague. Founded in 1349, King Charles University one of the oldest universities in Europe and is consistently ranked the most prestigious university in Eastern Europe. During university, Ms. Baebler served as an assistant buyer at one of the premier retail store chains in the Czech Republic. There, her responsibilities included sourcing retail merchandise worldwide and negotiating purchase contracts.
Upon graduation in 1992, Ms. Baebler accepted a position with Cap & Associates, a conglomerate in the Czech Republic with real estate, construction, and import-export divisions among others. As a purchasing agent in the children's product division, Ms. Baebler negotiated major contracts with such premiere European companies like BREVI. Her responsibilities included analyzing and evaluating projected consumer demand, price points, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise. They try to get the best deal for their company, meaning the highest quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost to their companies. In order to accomplish these tasks successfully, purchasing managers, buyers, and purchasing agents study sales records and inventory levels of current stock, identify foreign and domestic suppliers, and keep abreast of changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, needed products and materials. In her position, she was often required to travel throughout Europe to negotiate contracts in English, German, Czech, Russian, and Polish.
After immigrating to the United States, Ms. Baebler continued working as a buyer and purchasing agent, however, her role was more domestic in nature. Desiring a return to international business, Ms. Baebler now serves as an international business consultant and translator for the Wenger law firm. Since the end of the Cold War, direct U.S. investment in Central and Eastern Europe has been astounding even though there is a lack of transparency in government decisio-making. With Ms. Baebler's business experience, cultural understanding in this region, and foreign language skills, the Wenger law firm is able to assist its client penetrate this vital market.
Away from the office, Ms. Baebler spends most of her time with her husband and two boys. The family can often be found out in the desert on their motorcycles and ATV's. Ms. Baebler also has a passion for music and dance. Although very proud of her Czech and German heritage, Ms. Baebler was elated to become a naturalized United States citizen in 2007.
